Hey everyone,
I've been wondering, what is going to be discussed at Congress this year? I'm fairly certain that we elect the SMC and SSH at Congress now, but other than that, I don't know of anything that's being discussed.

This year at congress we don’t have much on the agenda of course we are electing the SMC and SSH but other then that I believe we have no more then one article that will be read your Chapter Dad should get that topic(s) pretty soon and will probably go over it with your chapter.
By the way My EA degree should be this month i will call you and let you know.

We started out with the opening and afterwards had a guest speaker. LtCol Jay Price from the Marine Corps. We then had breakout sessions which everyone attended two. Then the dreaded business section, and there was only one thing to vote on. Someone made a motion for the SMC to plan an event in the North and South part of the state. That was passed. Afterwards everybody made there way to laster tag and somebody else must continue becuz i did not attend laser tag

SMC: Adam Ira
SSH: Sarahbeth Scandland
There were two proposals.
1. Someone proposed that we have 1 event in northern Indiana and one in southern Indiana.
This Passed with a small number of votes against.
2. Someone proposed that they put the preceptors back in the Conclave parts because they were taken out this year.
This passed although there were several votes against and 5 people abstained. There was a large amount of confusion during this proposal because 4 people were not paying attention and did not stand we Ryan called for people that abstained.
I believe that they should leave the preceptors out because it gives everybody a chance to learn and perfect the often overlooked DeMolay Degree parts. If this hadn't passed it would have been nice because then we could consider the State Ritual Tournament to be Initiatory Degree tournament and Conclave to be Demolay Degree tournament.

Hmm. I can see the pros and cons in the preceptor aspect. Most people learn a Preceptor because they're really short, but they are also the backbone of our organization, and, in my eyes, EXTREMELY important to know about what they stand for.
And also, when you say that somebody proposed there be two events, one in the north half of the state, and one in the south, what exactly do you mean? A congress type event? Any type of sporting event? Two differenct conclaves?

I am not sure but I believe that he meant that he wanted to have one of the events such as Softball or Basketball in the North and one in the South to encourage chapters in those areas to attend these events. My view on this is that the chapters in the North will not attend the South event and vice versa.

You are correct. One State activity in the north and one in the south.
