What can we do to improve our communication through out the State?

For many years our Indiana website was jumping with threads. At least one person from every Chapter was on once a day and State officers were always there to answer questions so were advisors. I’m only bringing this up because I have seen maybe 2 or 3 active members on this forum there for a lot of events, where chapters may like to know about or need help with, no one will see it. Please put your input…

James, it's not just here on the website.  The chapters around the state are lacking communication.  I don't know about the rest of you guys, but our chapter is under heavy strain right now for membership, members staying active, and communication.  For this problem to be fixed, I think that each chapter has to revive itself.  And for the chapters that are in good health, perhaps a brotherly hand of assistance could be offered?  I'm always willing to help if I can...

true, I was also talking about Demolay as a whole, and this year that is what I am most worried about. I have made some programs that I will bring to this year’s conclave, to give out to each chapter. Just some little ideas that may or may not benefit each individual chapter. we need to fix this communication problem at both chapter and State level. In order to make this next year a success.

Hmm...perhaps you could be talking to our SMC elect, if you haven't already?  I'm sure he'd be more than happy to have some help in this aspect?

I think it's something that we all have to focus on.  It' not just an issue for the SMC or the State Officers or a particular Chapter dad etc...  It needs to be a focal point for all of us.

What do we need to do on the website to generate interest here though?

I think that more recent pictures of some of the events could help generate attention. I also think that when new members are initiated into a chapter of Indiana DeMolay that the MC or another member of that chapter should recommend that he registers for an account on indianademolay.org and talk about the uses of it. (forum, downloads, calendar, pictures, scholarships and also for more info about DeMolay)
Thanks, Jackson R. Mote

and remember Dad Koleszar i am still here if you need help maintaining this site. question ? Is there a way to get a chat room though the hosting site you are using this page with.? I understand that a problem with that would be spammers but as long as we can have a strong filter then it should be a way to interact better and faster.

If it helps, there's a website where you can create a chat-room and input it into most websites.  I use it for our chapter website.  The URL is http://www.addonchat.com

Hope this helps...

The Problem with doing a embedded Chat room is that it is an external link posted onto the page and easy for spammers to post. If Your site is secure, having a out side source could defeat the purpose. Now allot of hosing site may have a chat room option which should be secure through the host site. Thank you though, but i haven't herd of that site so i may have to read into it to see how there chat rooms link into your page. is it pretty secure on your site?

I've never had a problem with it.  It's really simple to use, nothing complex.  If you want to check out ours, it's http://www.montgomerydemolay.weebly.com/chat-room.html

To Generate more interest on the website I think you should change the layout to start with. The background seems kind of dull with the colors and one picture...you should put state pictures and conclave pictures all over the front...and then get a picture of the members of each chapter and make that the link to them on the map. Thats just a viewers thought. To get people on it, we should change it up a bit and kind of make it like a demolay facebook/ myspace. Where an individual can have a profile and post chapter events, state questions, and chapter pictures. That way each chapter doesnt have to have their own web page, but can use the states.   JUST AN IDEA...ALOT OF DEMOLAYS SEEM TO LIKE FACEBOOK AND MYSPACE.
